Common Platform Programme, Ministry of Justice & HMCTS

The Common Platform provides secure access to the most up-to date case information for all parties involved in criminal cases – including the judiciary, solicitors and barristers, the Crown Prosecution Service and court staff.

I worked on the Common Platform Programme from November 2017 to October 2023. I was an interaction designer in a number multidisciplinary, agile teams (BAs, SMEs, Researchers, Developers), working with the GDS Service Manual using a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).

I sat in two main delivery teams; delivering services to integrate with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and then more court-focussed functionality.

At the beginning of 2020 I took up the temporary role of UX Practice Lead, overseeing resourcing and ensuring the overall quality of the team’s output.

“The Common Platform will provide smarter, more joined up and more streamlined processes and help us deliver more effective and swifter criminal justice for all.”

Kevin Sadler, Acting Chief Executive of HM Courts & Tribunal Service

The HMCTS Reform, Crime Programme is a change programme to enable HMCTS, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and other Criminal Justice System (CJS) agencies to be more efficient and deliver an improved service.
